Man Who Set Self on Fire on National Mall Identified as Mount Laurel Man
Constantino’s family said in a statement issued through an attorney that “his death was not a political act or statement, but the result of a long battle with mental illness,” according to the Washington Post.
Emergency crews tried to treat Constantino on the Mall and he was hospitalized in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries.
In the statement, his family said they “would like to acknowledge the heroism of the paramedics and bystanders who attempted to save his life.”
